Dogs of War

With all of the advantages of today's digital computer age there is one analogue relic I really miss. It's the old fashioned excuse. Is is possible in our technological evolution that we have gone from analogue to digital excuses. There is absolutely nothing exciting or sexy about Hey teacher I don't have my term paper because my hard drive crashed. Or boss, sorry about those projections but the wireless router failed.

Now I hate to sound like your dad but I miss those Charlie Brown bromides of yesteryear. Those were the days when you didn't have your homework because the dog ate it or better yet the dog peed on it. Sometimes even your brother ate it or peed on it. And you could always hope that your dad was an avid fisherman because having a striped bass wrapped up in your math assignment was a doozy and worked every time. Not even Reese of Malcolm in the Middle could top those.

Now the reason all of this seems terribly relevant right now is because on our morning show we always endeavor to you bring the most meaningful microcosm of our society to you. For example we noticed today the story about a Labrador Retreiver in Arizona who ate a pair of $900 a piece Super Bowl Tickets. I'm sure there was plenty of protein and fiber involved. But wait it was just about three weeks ago we reported that another dog gobbled up an expensive scalped pair of Giants-Patriots playoff tickets. So are we beginning to see a common thread or leit motif here. Now let's take bets here. In just weeks Jim Vance will be on the tube telling you about Rover gobbling up a pair of final four tickets, Spot making a meal out of NBA playoffs and Snoopy woofing down the World Series. It does always seem to be sporting events though. I have yet to encounter a headline that says Poodles Piddle on Hannah Montana or Beagles Breakfast on Bruce Springsteen. You'd figure that the dogs might even be partial to L'll Bow Wow even Wha's Up Dog Randy Jackson on American Idol. But no.

I'm convinced that all of these journalists are making these stories up harping on memories of their childhoods when the dog really did pee on their homework. Nowadays you just print out another copy. And those ticket transactions are all done electronically. But I am sorry that this Blog is late you see the cat ate my mouse and I just couldn't click to save myself.
