Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary will hold its 5th annual, green-friendly, 5K “Run for the Animals” and 1-Mile Fun Walk. 

Runners, teams and individuals will compete for prize money and raffle items. Tasty vegan refreshments will be provided and dogs are welcome to join the walk.  All proceeds will benefit the sanctuary.

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400-acre, non-profit refuge for more than 200 neglected, unwanted, or abandoned farmed animals. Its mission is to provide care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for unwanted farmed animals, protected habitat for wildlife, furnish information and education to the public (and especially to children and school groups) regarding farmed animal and wildlife issues and to promote compassion and humane treatment for all animals.  
 
Registration fee is $20.00 for the 5K Run and 1 Mile Fun Walk prior to May 1, 2008. Beginning May 1, 2008 the registration fee is $25.00 and $28.00 on the day of the race.  For more information regarding Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary and race registration, please click here or call 301-625-9321.
